Welcome Readers.. This blog is all about CogAT , which is an acronym for Cognitive Abilities Test. CogAT is widely used standard abilities test for identifying gifted students. I am starting this blog as a parent and I researched a lot about this CogAT test while my daughter was taking this test and I gathered lot of useful information about it such as what is CogAT, why Cogat is used , Is it necessary all kids take this test? , What is the importance of the Cogat Test, what is the Cogat test format, what kind of questions asked in Cogat, What is that qualifying scores for Cogat , Sample questions, Practice Tests etc. As I gathered this info, as it will be beneficial to other kids and parents, I wanted to share with you all using this blog . Also I will provide my personal experiences about this test.
Most of the parents, including me, may not initially realize the importance of the Cogat Test and also the school teachers may not emphasize the importance of it either, they just tell it is just another test, that won't impact any class grades and won't be counted towards class grades and parents & students also take it easy. But the students and parents will realize after couple of years down the lane the importance of it by looking at the advancements made by the Cogat qualified students at the school.
In United States, schools conduct CogAT test for K-12 students to identify gifted students and gifted students will be offered differentiated education in addition to their regular class curriculum. This differentiated education is very stimulating the gifted brains and improves their knowledge and advances them in various subjects not only academic but also logical thinking, reasoning skills and personality development.
So it is important for parents to follow-through about this Cogat test in school and have their kids taken and quality in the Cogat test and receive the differentiated education.
